The Dutch Explorer
An "explorer" refers to a person known for exploring unknown areas or conducting voyages of discovery.
The idea for the Explorer came about during the summer of 2024.
Deep in Serbia, near the border of Macedonia, we met an inspiring person who was genuinely impressed by a Dutch bus equipped with all kinds of features to enable you to stay in uninhabited areas for a long period of time.
Striking was the Dutchman who explored the area by bicycle, The Dutch Explorer.
After getting to know this Serbian a little better, the person was shown some photos of beautiful places in Europe that were visited in this way. In between these photos, his eyes were triggered by a multitude of photographed carp.
With a big smile he said: “Man, you really are an Explorer”
The fun, meeting people and catches during such a trip are always very enjoyable.
What is the Explorer?

We understand that people may think that we fish with the highest quality boilies and use the most expensive ingredients, which one might think would make the best bait.
Nothing could be further from the truth, we look a lot at the needs of a fish, the period, water temperature, and we use our bait composition accordingly. The feeding behavior of carp can vary greatly depending on several factors, including size, water temperature, season, availability of other food, but also the health of the fish, metabolism, stress level and water conditions.
It turns out that what is most important to us is, fresh bait.
Certainly not bait that has been lying on the shelf somewhere for a very long time, but freshly turned.
Within the composition of the bait we use BasTriggers, the so-called active substances, which have been experienced over the years as effective and added value in catches.
There is of course also a big difference between the immediate use of bait or a long-term strategy, but from the feeding response and the fishing behavior it has been experienced that the carp respond positively to the Explorers.
A feeding strategy of feeding an amount every other day for 2 weeks has more effect on the population than feeding for 3 days prior to a planned session.
Just a strategic example;
Fishmeal is often used in fish feed because of its high nutritional value.
As everyone knows, there are different types of fishmeal, each fishmeal is rich in high-quality proteins, essential for the growth and development of fish. It contains amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids that are essential for health. The vitamins and minerals are important for overall health, recovery and bone development.
The fisherman is caught by the strong smell and higher protein content in the bait. Please note, this percentage of protein must come from the fish meal and not from used products with a higher protein such as soy and lupine products, which are vegetable proteins.
A bait with a high percentage of fishmeal may work against your catches, but if a fish reaches the required requirements more quickly, it may prevent further baiting. This makes the difference between feeding and filling.
When breeding fish or maintaining a stock on a syndicate of water, a high percentage of proteins from fish meal is important from other arguments and principles, such as growth and recovery. In our bait composition we use the starting point, catches.
A Salmon will need food with a higher protein content than a carp swimming quietly in a non-flowing lake.
There is a downside to everything, but this is already part of our strategy for success that we use in our fishing industry.

Steaming versus boiling
The Explorers are steamed like all our boilies.
Steamed products generally retain more nutrients compared to boiling. Steaming does limit our output, cooking is faster and fits better into busy schedules, but it does not suit us as craftsmen who aim for high quality.
As an example, let's take yeast, a microorganism that is sensitive to heat. When yeasts are exposed to high temperatures such as cooking they can be killed. The exact temperature at which yeast dies varies depending on the type of yeast.
Suppose that when using organic flour, produced according to organic principles and grown without synthetic pesticides, unsprayed, worms develop after some time, we are still satisfied, because the micro-organisms are not completely eliminated by excessive heat.
This is a different thought than what many people first think.
